TO PROP OR NOT TO PROP in Yin Yoga?
It's a great question!
Here, we discuss how props can create possibilities in your Yin Yoga practice and teaching.
In the Yin Yoga & Meditation practice, props are valuable companions to help us find and maintain appropriate sensations in the areas of the body we want to bring focus to in our practice.
We can use props creatively to make a posture accessible as we work compassionately within the natural boundaries of our unique skeletal architecture.
Props also make space to practice safely with specific physical concerns or sensitivities. On the other end of the spectrum, you can use props to deepen sensation in a certain area.
Each Yin pose is a journey to find and maintain mild sensation. The body shifts day to day and side to side, so give yourself permission to play and experiment with how props can help you find your expression of the shape and continue to craft the experience you want to have.
