A Winter Solstice Blessing from my heart to yours: On this darkest night, let me be light. For my beautiful human family, near and far, known and unknown. And for our wondrous and fragile Mother Earth, who holds us so tenderly at her side.
For every insect nestled and wintering among leaves mercifully left lying silent and crisp on the lawns. For the creatures on land still able to roam freely through the lands time built for them which humans have not yet scarred.
For every tree left standing, boasting the evolutionary miracle of wooden flesh, defying gravity on behalf of cells within, lifting them into the sky so they can breathe and be the lungs of this planet.
For every bird, bearer of hope and delight, singers of songs that have never needed words to be understood. For the fish in the sea, navigating through waters made turbulent by our hands.
For the soil and minerals and inert substances, the very ground beneath us, for the glory of the sky, always painting a masterpiece of itself for those who remember to watch, for the endless wonder of the ever-expanding universe, dotted through with trillions upon trillions of stars whose light, like the light of our own eyes and hearts, continues to shine ever outward.
Let me see, and speak, and live ever more gently and in harmony with my human family and with Mother Earth, and on this darkest night, let me be light. 🕊💜 Sagel
